IELTS or PTE for the Canada route? My writing score keeps killing me.

I can speak fine, my listening is good, but writing sits at 6.0 when I need 7. Third attempt next month. Tutors keep saying practise more which has not helped. Does PTE grade differently? Any particular tutor or method that helped you jump a band? No agent with a guaranteed visa please.
